The next IOM cruise is coming closer !

The team of the Interoceanmetal’s dedicated scientists is preparing for the next prospecting cruise which will sail to our area of exploration  in the eastern part of the Clarion-Clipperton Zone. The scope of the work comprises boxcorer sampling from several dozen stations in nodule fields, photo and side-scan sonar profiling, and picking a large sample of nodules for the large-scale laboratory tests of metallurgical processing. Special attention will be given to biological baseline studies and species recognition. Samples will be preserved for later genetic code analysis in onshore laboratories.

The cruise is scheduled for April and May 2014 and it will last for at least 57 days with about 40 days spent directly in the IOM area of exploration. We hope to bring back all the new results and samples  and share it very soon with the ocean scientific community !
