We are pleased to announce the publication of a new scientific article titled Exhalation of Rn-222 from polymetallic nodules, recently published in the journal Journal of Environmental Radioactivity.
The study focuses on assessing the potential radiological hazards associated with the presence and release (exhalation) of radon-222 (Rn-222) from polymetallic nodules. The research provides new insights into the behavior of naturally occurring radioactive materials in marine mineral resources and highlights the importance of considering radiological aspects in the context of deep-sea mining and resource utilization. The findings contribute to a better understanding of environmental safety and support the development of guidelines for sustainable exploitation of polymetallic nodules. This publication represents another step forward in advancing knowledge on environmental radioactivity and its implications for emerging resource sectors.
The article is available in our Publications section.
