The 71st Council of Interoceanmetal Joint Organization

Szczecin (Poland)  The 71st Council of Interoceanmetal Joint Organization took place in Szczecin (Poland), 19-23 November 2018, with the participation of plenipotentiary representatives and delegates of IOM Member States (Bulgaria, Czechia, Poland, Russia and Slovakia). The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mr Andrzej Przybycin.

Current topics concerning the activities of IOM were discussed during the meeting. Among the issues, the possibilities of cooperation between IOM and China Minmetals Corporation were evaluated. The Council approved the Report of Director General on the IOM’s activities for the period between 70th and 71st meeting, as well as plan of work and budget for 2019.

During the Council, the economic model of IOM’s Project on mining and processing of polymetallic nodules from Clarion-Clipperton Zone was presented by Qvistorp, the consultation company.

The next Council is to take place in Slovakia in May 2019.
